We have not placed a mercury silver filling since 1983 and follow extensive protocols to protect the patient and staff during any mercury removal. Patients with chemical sensitivities can test different materials to find the best for their restoration. In addition to using dental materials that are less overtly toxic, we recognize the fact that individuals vary in their biochemical and immunological responses. This service becomes more important for those patients who suffer from allergies, environmental sensitivity, or autoimmune diseases, as we can help determine the least reactive materials to use
